Let's Do It Together
Maybe we've said this before, but one of the best things of being a journalist is having a good reason to get in touch with absolutely anyone to satisfy your curiosity about something.
Running Workshop, we get to chat with artists, artisans, makers and experts across Canada to hear what they have to say. That includes during our monthly events — it's always so nice to see your faces! — as well as when we do interviews for stories. The lesson is always that everyone has something useful and interesting to say, and that's so important in business, too — we're stronger and better when we get inspired by each other rather than trying to do everything on our own.
Take Songbird Yarn & Fibres, for instance. Kat won a few skeins of owner Vicki Ryder's bird-themed hand-dyed sock yarn in a charity auction, and as soon as it showed up at her door she wanted to know more. Where did the idea come from to dye yarn in bird-inspired colourways, and how much of the customer base is birders? You can find out in our latest Anatomy of a Product. (And if you're wondering, Kat's already cast on a sock in cedar waxwing and a scarf in kingfisher.)
Kat also got to speak recently with content strategist Jasmine Williams, who always has super-smart things to say. You can see that story below.
As always, let us know what you think and what topics you'd like us to cover next. We love to hear from you. And, hope to see you at our next event on July 26!
Yours in making,
